We’ve been meaning to go to Heart. We’ve driven past it countless times on our way to dinner at Ken’s Artisan Pizza or a movie date at the Laurelhurst. After being recommended by Sarah and Eric (both talented baristas), we decided it was no longer an option: we had to go.
The environment is beautiful: light flowing through their store front windows, long marble counter tops, and a big, beautiful coffee roaster. I had never been to a coffee shop that has a live DJ spinning it up while people sip their lattes/espressos and type away at their laptops. We thought about leaving because we weren’t sure we were quite cool enough for the joint, but decided to chance it, ordered a latte and took a seat. You can tell a lot from a coffee shop by the latte they make and I am happy to say that theirs did not disappoint. The rich roast of their beans combined with the mellow grooves the DJ played made for an excellent break in our day. I can’t wait to stop in again to try another one of their delicious drinks and, of course, see what music they’re spinning.

That place is so pretty, lovely photos. And we agree, way cool. We felt it was a little too cool for us as well, but that’s okay.
Everyone in Madison sure appreciated the coffee we brought back and served at at the cafe we’re at, Heart is definitely a solid roaster!
Hahaha! Oh, Sarah, I’m so glad to know we weren’t the only ones who felt not quite hipster enough! – Jade
