Alpacas & A Lavender Festival

Alpacas & A Lavender Festival

I’ve been on the hunt for special things to do that will get Cory and me out of the city to truly experience the summer season. I stumbled across the Helvetia Lavender Festival and knew we absolutely had to go. As we were driving through the country and over the dirt roads to the festival, we were delighted to discover an Alpaca Farm. We couldn’t resist pulling over and getting a closer look. They were such sweethearts, hiding in the shade, playing in their little sprinkler and watching our every move as we inched closer to them. I hope to contact the farm and maybe get a proper tour later this summer.

After daydreaming about owning an Alpaca farm of our own someday, we decided it was time to say goodbye to our fluffy new friends and walk over to the festival. We couldn’t believe how the smell of lavender perfumed the air. A sense of calm came over each of us as we walked through the fields, sipping lavender lemonade and iced peach tea. Artisans sold watercolor paintings and homemade lavender oil and soaps. Cory discovered a kitten and of course had to catch and snuggle. We indulged in sweet berries and scones and started making plans on returning next year…

how wonderful! it looks like back-breaking work picking the flowers, but the perfume would more than make up for it. i adore your shot that is completely lavender heads. it’s also beautiful to see all the shades and colours and tones of the different varieties.

We got to see some of the artisans harvesting the lavender and processing it for their products. Talk about hard work!!

How ridiculously beautiful are those fields! Wow, I’ve always wanted to do a photoshoot, or engagement session, in a lavender field. How romantic, right? 🙂

Those alpacas are too adorable, btw. I would have loved to have met them!

Oh my, an engagement shoot in a lavender field would be HEAVEN. I’ve actually dreamed of my husband and I having a shoot together in one someday…

Alpaca are so cute aren’t they – there are a couple in a field we walk past sometimes (usually with a few sheep) & they often wander over to the fence & watch us as we walk past.

& the lavender festival looks heavenly!

how serene. i adore lavender and wish it could grow in florida. i’d visit lavender festivals as often as i could if they were at all locally grown!

I wish I would have known about the festival sooner. I’m sad that I missed it for so many years! If you ever have the opportunity to visit a proper lavender field, I HIGHLY recommend it…
