A Magical Night (and Morning) with Hotel 1000
We had the amazing opportunity this past month to be invited to stay another night with Hotel 1000 and cover an event that was going on in Seattle. We were very pleased (okay, ecstatic) to find out that the event was actually the Paul McCartney concert at SafeCo Field. There was definitely no possible way we could turn down their offer, so we planned and packed accordingly.
We arrived at Hotel 1000 just an hour or so before the concert was to start (hello crazy traffic). We were absolutely famished after having been on the road from Portland to Seattle for over 5 hours and were ready to have a quick dinner at the hotel’s in house, award winning restaurant Boka. We were able to get a seat on their patio to enjoy the gorgeous, blue skied evening. We ordered the Manila Clams and Ahi Tuna Poke as the appetizer, both of which were incredibly delicious. The flavor of the Portuguese sausage and coconut milk in the broth around the clams was fantastic. The tuna was fresh and perfectly paired with the avocado and taro chips, as usual. Our entrées were the Alaskan Weathervane Scallops (which we ordered the last time we dined at Boka, since they are to die for) and the Alaskan King Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the skin was light and crispy. We were truly tempted to get desert, but time was pressing us and we had to get to the concert.
When we came back in the evening we entered our room and found chocolates on the pillows and a box of assorted chocolates and champagne waiting for us on the desk. Hotel 1000 really knows how to spoil their guests. So we decided to sip champagne and unwind with a hot bath. Why can’t every evening end that way?
When the morning came, we awoke from one of the most restful sleeps we have had in months, part from the comfort of the bed and part from the exhaustion of dancing with Paul McCartney for 4 hours. We peered out our windows and enjoyed the beautiful fog rolling in from puget sound. Warm cups of coffee, big comfy robes and stunning views made our morning that much more unforgettable.
We almost hated to leave the room, but we knew that our day was just beginning and we were in need of fuel so we wandered down to Boka for a bit of brunch. Jade and I shared the Eggs Benedict and Biscuits & Gravy. I haven’t had Biscuits & Gravy in years, so to have it made for me by such a highly acclaimed restaurant I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed.
After brunch, we then retired to Spaahh where Jade received a fantastic facial and I a full body massage. It was all a perfect start to our day, and certainly an experience we will never forget. If you are visiting or living in Seattle schedule an appointment with Spaahh. The staff is truly some of the kindest people we have ever met. We are already planning our return.
