Did Someone Say Morning Buns?

Did Someone Say Morning Buns?

I’ve noticed over the past few days we’ve shared a few of our favorite places in our new neighborhood, including Salt & Straw and Sterling Coffee Roasters. I thought we would continue that theme today by sharing one of the best pastries we’ve had at Ken’s Artisan Bakery. I mentioned the other day on instagram, how walking over to Ken’s has started to become a Sunday tradition. Last time we went, the cookies called our names. On this particular morning, Cory decided to try the blueberry biscotti and I had my sight set on the citrus morning bun.

After we ordered we were able to find a table outside where we could enjoy the cool, calm breeze and sink our teeth into our delicacies. We also couldn’t help but stare as dog owners began to fill the streets on their morning walks with their darling canine companions. The Morning Bun was particularly delightful with heavy hints of orange zest inside and sugar in the raw on top with croissant style flakey crust that melts in your mouth. Cory and I always like to share the things we order, so we made sure one another had their fair share of each pastry.

The Biscotti had a unique crumble to it that almost made it more cookie like than the usual hard biscotti you might find in other bakeries. The blueberries had a sweet tang that added much more flavor than chocolate or plain usually have. Cory thought dunking it in a piping hot Stumptown latte was the perfect beginning to his Sunday. Smart move husband… smart move. I’m already dreaming about our next visit…

Hello Jade! I was following you on instagram, but now had the chance to dig into your blog, beautiful images, especially this last post took my attention since I’ve spent hours today at my favorite bakery in the town to document how they make breads:) (I live in France, so there is a huge love for the local bakeries here)
Very nice blog, I’ll try to check it more often.
