Poppy Barley Ambassador
A short time ago I had the opportunity to meet with Kendall Barber, co-founder of Poppy Barley, a custom footwear company based in Alberta, Canada. We had initially become familiar with each other through the wonderous world that is instagram. We organized a meeting at one of my favorite local bakeries while she and her husband were in Portland. He was going to a class reunion, and it turns out he and I share our alma mater. Small word, right? We shared pastries, thoughts on life and business and of course few laughs. Kendall is genuine, charming and it was an absolute pleasure to meet with such an ambitious and brilliant business woman.
This meeting of ours also included talking about their Ambassador Program and how I should consider applying to be a part of it. Well, I was lucky enough to be selected as one of their Poppy Barley Ambassadors, an absolute honor. Poppy Barley have an archetype of bringing shoe making back to its roots, relying on artisan hand-made products which are crafted custom to each order that is placed. This makes every product order a work of art in its self made specifically for you. Traditional, factory made flats are usually too tight or end up being too long to accommodate the width I need. But after providing my measurements for my first order and receiving my first pair, I can honestly say that my Poppy Barley Modern Mary Janes haven’t left my feet since. And no wonder since they were made specifically for me.
Today, I wanted to show the versatility of the flat. I’m not a fussy dresser. I like to wear things I can move in… photograph in… eat in… live in, but I always aim to look put-together (and chic when possible). Whether it’s for a simple trip to my favorite cafe or a day out on the town with Cory, my Mary Jane’s keep up with me.
