Is there anything better than coffee and doughnuts on a rainy day?

Cory and I try to have a doughnut date once a month. It’s a nice, little indulgence. I walk down to Blue Star early in the morning in hopes of avoiding crowds. I remember when they first opened and you always felt like you had the shop to yourself. But then the word got out about their deliciousness and you’re basically guaranteed a wait time. But a doughnut date is a fail if you don’t bring the doughnuts so I wait without grudge. I tend to pick out a sampling because it’s impossible to choose just one. From their popular blueberry bourbon basil to their underrated dulce de leche hazelnut. I wander over to The Ace with my doughnut box and meet up with Cory who supplies the coffee from Stumptown. Our dates are a team effort, really.

Now, who’s ready for doughnuts?

Blue Star is my favorite. 🙂 I love pretty much anything they create with the chocolate gnash frosting but the blackberry compote with peanut butter powder is right there at the top as well. Yum! I like the idea of limiting doughnuts to a once a month occurrence. Andrew has a crazy sweet tooth and wants to get doughnuts pretty much every time he walks or drives by a doughnut shop.

Cory loves the chocolate frosting too! And OH MY I almost forgot about that incredible peanut butter powder! I’m all about healthy eating but still indulging from time to time and I figured once a month for doughnuts is PLENTY, haha! And it’s good having a partner who will share it with you so you don’t end up eating it all on your own 😉

We need to get together soon!

Oh man, if only I could find beautiful doughnuts like this in Paris!! Blueberry bourbon basil sounds amaaazing. (And that table is so lovely!)

I am definitely putting this on my list when I finally get the chance to visit Portland. 🙂 Sooner rather than later I hope!

Oh, Christine, you absolutely have to come to Portland! And my husband and I would be more than happy to take you on a doughnut date. Blueberry bourbon basil all around! 😀
